The "Reimagining Performance through Immersive Technologies" capacity-building workshop is designed to showcase how cutting-edge XR and AI innovations are transforming the performing arts industry. Led by Satore Studio, this workshop will reveal the latest technological advancements developed in the Performing Arts Use Case of the Transmixr project, focusing on practical applications in live performance settings. Participants will have the unique opportunity to gain hands-on experience with working prototypes and explore how immersive technologies can elevate artistic expression, deepen audience engagement, and streamline production workflows. By participating, performing arts professionals can not only expand their creative toolkit but also stay at the forefront of industry innovation, bringing new dimensions and possibilities to their work.
Satore Studio is an international, multidisciplinary creative studio with offices in London, Cardiff, Lisbon and New York. Founded in 2011 by Creative Director Tupac Martir. Satore combines design and technology to bring bold and beautiful concepts to life, delivering truly memorable experiences to diverse audiences worldwide. They work in unison across three divisions; events, architectural lighting and technology, which allows us to deliver everything from runway shows and stages, to buildings, sets and award-winning virtual experiences. We have specialist teams with comprehensive knowledge which has led to collaborations with some of the biggest names in fashion, culture and brand experience.
ABOUT THE MENTORS
Tupac Martir – Creative Director and Founder at Satore Studio
Tupac is the Creative Director and Founder of Satore Studio. He’s a multimedia artist whose work spans the fields of technology, lighting, projection and video, sound design, music, and composition, as well as choreography and costumes. Vogue has described him as ‘the visual designer and creative director behind some of the most important events in the world’. He has provided production design, visuals and lighting direction for the likes of Elton John, Beyoncé, Danny Boyle, the Coachella Music & Arts Festival and Serpentine Gallery. Tupac is renowned within the fashion industry and has worked on ground-breaking shows for Alexander McQueen, Moschino, Alexander Wang, and Thomas Tait, among others.
In 2019 Tupac Directed and produced "Cosmos Within Us", a performative reality piece that debuted at the Venice Film Festival and won the "Spirit of Raindance Award" at the Raindance London Film Festival. More recently Tupac Directed and produced “Unique” at the BFI London & Sonar, a performative reality piece that showed the future of performance with improvisation at the heart of it. Additionally, Tupac has led a team to become pioneers in Virtual Production. Debuting “Haita” at Sónar+D, working with Es Devlin on an illuminated kinetic sculpture for Moet, and being part of TRANSMIXR, a 19 partner consortium across Europe that aims to create a range of human-centric tools for remote content production/consumption in immersive technologies.
Rubin Shah – Managing Director at Satore Studio
Rubin is the Managing Director of Satore Studio. He has over 20 years’ experience within the creative industries. Working on overseeing the project management and delivery of all projects undertaken by Satore. Prior to Satore, Rubin has held project management roles within the UK Government department of Trade and Investment and at the BBC.
Rubin overseas all strategic and business operations from planning, monitoring, producing and commercialisation of all projects that span immersive productions (e.g. Cosmos Within Us, and Unique at the BFI and Unique Sonar), Virtual Production, Lighting for Events (fashion and music shows), Architectural Lighting and Investment into R&D.
The workshop will be conducted in English. Participation is free, but registration is mandatory as spaces are limited.
